Redskins Sign First Free Agent…And You’ve Never Heard of Him
07 Mar 2010
The Redskins signed some O-Lineman named Artis Hicks.
Dude spent the last four years with Minnesota, and his first four years with Philly. I hate Philly. Anyway, it’s a three-year deal that could be worth up to $9 million…if he ever plays. This guy is mostly a career backup Guard and Tackle, and I can’t imagine they they signed him for any reason other than depth. I have a feeling he won’t be getting anywhere near that $9 million unless he starts a certain amount of games, etc.
I’m a little concerned about the lack of movement in regards to fixing the O-Line. That could be because we, as Redskins fans, are used to watching our team spend about $150 million dollars by day 3 of Free Agency. Could be Shanny and Allen The Bruce actually have a plan to use the draft to build the line. Or, it could be that there is a trade in the works. Could be both. One thing I do know: There aren’t a lot of Unrestricted Free Agent Fishes in the O-Line Sea this year, so I don’t expect to see much help along that front.
