Redskins Sign Kicker, Hire New Strength Coach

    13 Feb 2010

The Redskins signed Kicker Justin Medlock to a futures contract this week.  Dude was a 5th round draft pick in 2007 by the Rams, but got cut (CUUUUT!!!) after the first game of that season.  Last year he played with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and had a pretty good season (better than Miss ‘Em Suisham), so bringing him in as competition for former Violent Femmes singer Gordon Gano seems like a good idea.  Hell, I hope we bring in two or three more – you can never have enough competition at Kicker, if you ask me.

Note:  Gordon Gano is not really the former lead singer of the Violent Femmes.  This guy is:

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Medlock also had a very good career at UCLA – enough for the Rams to burn a draft pick on him – so he may be ready for the big leagues at this point. He also had a DUI in 2005 while in school, so hopefully he’s put that behind him.

In other news, the Redskins also hired a new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach – Ray Wright.  He’s another guy who worked with Kyle Shanahan in Houston, and hopefully he’ll be able to figure out the cause of the ridiculous amount of hamstring injuries that have plagued Washington in recent years.

This is not the same Ray Wright

We’ll be talking about this, and much much more, on Podcast #203, which will be up any day now (give us a break, it’s the off-season).

    HAIL!
